Pippin and Condor were weaned today – everything went smoothly, with mares and foals accepting the separation without turning a hair.  We prefer to wean in the yards, with mares going into a yard diagonally opposite the foals so they can see each other but not make contact.  This gets the job done with the minimum of fuss and distress.  After a few days, they will go quietly off to different paddocks.  Condor’s foster mum has served us well and will return to CSU soon.

Trickstarr is back in work in preparation for his sale.  Young eventer, Gary Luther, has taken over the ride on him and so far they are going very well together.
