About "Cooramin"

In March 2006, Heather and Jane purchased a 40 acre block of land on Harris Rd (formerly Cooramin St) in Wagga Wagga.  This block was christened "Cooramin" and became the home of Cooramin Sporthorses (formerly Starr Performance Horses).

Cooramin is an Aboriginal word for a water carrier made of bark.  As there was no water to the block of land when it was purchased, Heather, Jane and Jason have spent many many weekends carting water for the horses and to keep 1000 newly-planted baby trees alive through the drought.  We thought "Cooramin" was therefore a very appropriate name!

"Cooramin" is located less than 10kms from Wagga CBD, adjacent to Charles Sturt University, where it has access to specialised veterinary staff and state of the art facilities.  The future house site sits high on a hill and overlooks the lights of Wagga.

"Cooramin" has undergone (and continues to undergo) a transformation, from an oat crop to a horse property.  At the time of purchase, the 40 acres of land was bounded by a falling-down ringlock and barbed wire fence and divided into two 20 acre paddocks by a fence in even worse repair, with no power, no water and only a couple of trees in the furthermost corners.  The work began with pulling down the dividing fence and we then started from scratch with designing our dream property.  The work continues!  Watch the News link for updates on our progress....
